so is this thing an updated hectik, or a replacement for the dixon?

the rx dixon looks pretty burly, but its a 145mm travel bikes at heart - will this bike and the troy complement or replace it

It's a one off design build just for Worlds in South Africa.

Check the audio in the Vital slideshow. The angles and fit are exact same as the Wilson, it's a short travel, 650b Wilson with better pedalling efficiency.

The suspension layout might make it into a future bike, but after hearing the audio from the mechanic any future bike won't be just like this one.

Yeah Dave Weagle confirmed Devinci is working on a longer travel AM/Enduro bike to slot in above Dixon, and that they would use what they learn with this bike, but this appears to just be for Stevie and Nick for Worlds in this iteration. Darn, I'd so buy this!

If you could put a bottle on it so would I.

Or this set up! Perfect for 2014 Enduro. Can even fit a small dog in the bag for hill climbing assistance.

165 mm of travel seems like a high number to me.

Enduro's are still the most popular AM/Enduro bikes and they've always been 160mm.

What's changed?

This is about as much big bike as I need these days. I think this is awesome.
Though what's funny is that these are more like Freeride 2.0 than Enduro. Seems like a bit long in travel for an Enduro race bike. Nomenclature aside this looks like an awesome bike.
I hope they offer a proper XL.
