Deemax Wheels on Demo 8

Just picked up a '10 demo 8 for park riding and would like to use my Deemax wheelset. I swapped them over but the wheel isnt centered.
Do I need special adapters to fit the wheels on the Demo?

Thanks in advance.

Someone will chime in with a more definitive answer, but I think that Specialized dishes their wheels differently than other manufacturers. Should be fixable by a wheel builder.

no, you have to re-dish the wheel, 5mm or something to the non drive side.. it's an asymmetrical rear end. kinda like my F5.

The demos run a Zero Dish rear wheel. I Loosened half of the spokes and tighten the other half till it was center.

Be careful when dishing the Deemax. I don't know what the spoke-hub interface is like, but I do know that on the Crossmax, dishing the wheel for specialized back ends will result in a pressure point on the spoke where it interfaces the hub and can/will cause the spokes to snap.

All previous BigHit and Demo bikes had 6mm drive offset (this means you have to move wheel 6mm towards disc rotor).

Refer to Owners Manual and read "Rear hub spacing: 135135mm (6mm Drive-Side offset)", page 11

I know of two Demo riders who had Deemaxes (current model) and they both now have broken flanges on the rear hub since the beginning of March.

Coincidence?

^^^Yep. My dad was breaking spokes when he re-dished his Crossmax's on his demo. Word is for 09/10 they fixed that problem…

Hey Duncan, did those Demo riders re-dish their wheels or were they stock?

Hey Mel, just flip your wheel around, works perfect.

Congrats on the new bike, maybe you can keep up with me now…

Re Dished by a fully competent mechanic (same mechanic both times). Young guys, and both pretty decent riders, so maybe getting over enthusiastic with the whips. [HTML_REMOVED] Speculation.
