I have some Race Face DH Cranks that have developed a creak. putting oil around the seals seems to stop it but this is only a temp. solution. Anyone knows whats up?
I think the BB is toast, since I'm not the kindest to it…

Have you tried taking the cranks off. Greasing the spline and putting it back on? That usually gets rid of my creaking. Although one time it was the bb had become slightly loose and needed to be remove greased and threaded back in.

what is creaking the crank arms or the BB ???

im guna bet its the actual BB…

raceface NSDH cranks are hella tuff i doubt u have worn a set out…

get a new BB, cuz if your BB is creakng it means its developing play and will begin to wear faster and faster…

unless its just the BB shell thats loose…have u tried to retighten yuor BB into the frame? sometimes they can work loose…

check that out…

if its a sealed bb then you can't tighten it up, only the cups that hold the bb in. UNless you have a 3 piece crank

u need a BB tool to tighten it into the frame…

im guna assume u have a ISIS BB, u need a special raceface ISIS bb socket to tighten it up…

luckily its a cheap peice like 15$ or so…

p.sa. this doesnt tighten the spindle, it tightens the BB shell into the frame…which is were a major source of creakage can come from….

My friend's Block 8s creak really bad and he was told by the LBS that it was a BB problem and it needed to be replaced. Then again, he has 3 piece cranks so it may be different. consult professionals…:P

it's hard to face the problem when the problem is your face
