I've had no fault with my old pair of LX HT2. I've been on a set of Hones (with no pedal insert), which are identical to the LX except for the paintjob. Just over 900g rings, cranks, bb, all in. Cheap, my Hones were about $80usd shipped from Ebay brand new. All in all, I like the Shimano design the best, most user friendly. I'm not hard on gear at all, and don't bash into things though.

I'll be spending most of my summer on an Enduro bearing RF Deus X-type setup, which I expect to work just fine for me as well. My old RF bearings sucked

another vote for SLX

tough enough for DH, light enough for AM.

there's a set of new 2 ring (with the steel insert) for $200 right now in the b[HTML_REMOVED]s

Does anyone know how this current trend in All Mountain cranks will handle the rigours of Freeride Lite, Super D, Power XC or even Progressive Big Mountain? There's nothing more embarrassing than turning up for a group ride and having the wrong cranks for the terrain.

I've had Stylo cranks on my bike for 3 years, in that time, I have done 4 DH races, 1 SuperD, countless XC rides, dirt Jumping, Silverstar, Sunpeaks, Whistler, plenty of fairly big gaps and drops, all the local trails and they still are good as new.

After ignoring the problem for a few months, I've decided to finally look into buying something. Of the four that I'm looking at seriously (SLX, Stylo, Atlas, Deus) only the Atlas come in the 22/32/bash configuration that I'm interested in. Should I take this as a sign to buy them or should I spend the extra couple dollars to buy SLX 22/36 [HTML_REMOVED] a new 32t middle ring?

After reading that other thread about the death of the front derailleur, I'm realizing that my need for a 22/32 setup is either a statement about how unflowy many of the trails are here in Whistler or my present fitness level. Or both.

Atlas. Bombproof little crank and you're supporting the local economy (crank and chainrings made in BC). Lifetime warranty too….

My atlas fr cranks are working great but If you like to pull your cranks more than a few times ever I would avoid race face stuff as the press fit interface gets worn after a few installations and then you start to have problems with creaking and loosening. Shimano cranks dont have this issue as they have pinch bolts. The new SLX cranks seems like the best option now.

Also, as far as the newer raceface bb bearings they are much better. I have a two of their bbs that are almost 2 years old and get ridden a few times a week.

I've pulled my RF Atlas cranks at least 6 or 7 times and have no issues with a worn interface…Just install them properly each time (read the instructions) and you won't have any issues
