1) what does mounting the shock in the top/bottom hole in the main frame (front) do?
2) what dimensions (eg: 750-2.2) would you guys recommend for a 180lb rider? (on the s8 of course)
thanks

ok the two holes:
the top is a linear rear suspension rate
the bottom is a more progressive rate
i use linear.. i find that when i use progressive i bottom too much :S
i use a 750 and i weigh about 150
i can answer almost any question about the s8.. i suggest watching carefullly for cracks. you can still ride the swingarms full of cracks no prob but if its a headtube be very careful

i'll be on the lookout
if i was to buy a new spring would i up the lbs and keep the rate the same?

mike,
i am looking into buying a super 8. I only weight 140 pounds, i don't go huge, but i still do decent drops. Is there a big worry about developing cracks in the swingarm?? because i don't want to drop a load of cash on something the will break really soon.

In this Universe, doesn't more progessive mean you bottom less?
i would think so, but im gonna try the other hole for shits
basic question: how do i stiffen up my shock without paying for a new spring
extra question: how much/what new spring?

well you could turn the preload collar but thats a bad idea cause you can strip the threads
you can usually get springs for like 50ish
