Wow who doesn't have these things for sale. I see Best Buy has them on sale and now Chainlove is moving them too.

Contour must be trying to get rid of these thing quickly…..which makes me wonder what's around the corner.

Kinda what I was thinking.

The good quality video is nice, but I find I never ever take photos of anything anymore. I've seen some pretty awesome screenshots/still from video footage. might be worth it just for that.

I'll likely wait to see what's coming up. Or buy an SLR. They're cooler.

The contour and go bandit also only shot 135 degrees or 140 and the go pro shoots 170 which makes a big difference when you are filming backwards to someone or forwards on the chesty, it makes a big difference when you edit it as you can capture the whole person. I found when i did this with the contour i could barely get the whole person in..

The new contour has a 170* lense, I wonder if that lense would fit the older contour camera's?

The new ones are out, the Contour+ and GPS both have smartphone apps so you can view and setup the camera from your iphone/android. The Contour HD 1080 is the old model blowout.

I just picked one up from best buy to give it a try.

I noticed an add on that you could buy to view on iphone. Does this work with the regular contourHD?

Picked up one also just to play around with. A few things I've noticed

- The helmet strap mount included looks like the camera will move in it. I'd hoped not to spend a fortune on overpriced mounts
- The lens cap is way to loose. I will be sure to loose it.
- The lens wiggles side to side a few mm in its up position. Is that normal?

After a quick search on line forums cant find very many threads on different mounts, etc.

Ya, info on that one has been around for a few months now, but it just seems like they are pretty agressive in blowing out the old ones…too much stock I guess.

I wonder if the lense 170 lense will be interchangable with the 135 and can be bought for a reasonable price?

you will need to strap the camera to the mount. there is definitely some slop in there. I used a velcro strap but a zip tie would do just fine. I'd also strap the mount solid to something (helmet, bike etc) that goggle strap can't be too good.

keep looking for info, I've found a ton in the past few days.

I got some cementy-glue stuff and slathered it into the mechanism on the helmet mount…there was so much play in it even with it 'locked' that once I decided on the angle, I figured I might as well seal it up and try and remove that play….seems to have worked decently, although I haven't taken it out on the trails yet….will report back
