Yet SRAM offer the Lyrik 29 in both 170 and 180mm travel options. Which is what I'm getting at. Why does only one suspension company offer an über long travel single crown and FOX, Öhlins, DVo, MRP, Manitou all offer 29ers at 160mm and under (minus the unreleased 49 and Boxxer)?

Anyway, a 170mm Öhlins 36 or Fox 36 29er would tweak my loins.

The Evil Wrecking is the longest travel single crown 29r I know of and it's built around a 160mm fork. The Wreckoning's competition (Slash, Enduro, Mega) are all 150-155 in the rear and also built around a 160mm fork.

So really there is no reason for any of the brands you mentioned to use precious resources to r&d and produce a fork that nobody uses. Rockshox can offer a 170mm & 180mm single crown 29" fork simply because they are the industry giant and can afford to throw it out there as a niche item. DVO? That's 7 guys operating a company out of a closet in comparison (and doing so quite well, I might add). Not worth their time until a bike and market exists that can use it.

Well, I might be changing my tune.

The 10.5 Fox air shock is holding up quite well... even in this hot weather.

FOX has to undertake the task of installing 170mm uppers into the 36 29er lowers.  DVO released a new 650b dual crown fork that is 650b+ compatible.  MRP has an inverted dual crown fork
