Yeah hardtails can't possibly be fun being ridden on DH trails:rolleyes:……..Jinya is a specimen though.
That video….. That's why I ride a hardtail right there…..
Agreed.
Hey my Surface is perfect for SoCal. And will be perfect for Cold Lake as well.
Yes that makes me cry.

Another reason hard tails are good. The bushings won't freeze at minus 40.
WBP is a blast on the hard tail.

When I see these videos of a hardtail guy really on his game it makes me totally want one. Simple and direct, no carbon, no moving parts. But every time I ride one I think: wow, this is going to take some getting used to.
When I'm on my Enduro and nailing things I think "I could rock this on a hardtail". But when I'm flailing I think "Phew I'm glad I had that extra margin for error".

When I watch those videos I think how supple and flexible I used to be, I also wonder why I persist with my hardtail (oh yes cause it's awesome.

totally. riding a hardtail means you have to be on your game all the time. when i switch back and forth between bikes, i definitely have "off" days on my hardtail. but if a hardtail is your only bike, it becomes the new normal, and that isn't really an issue any more - you're always "on"

the transition from a dually is always a little jarring if you haven't ridden one much. i've been riding hardtails exclusively since fall, and they feel pretty awesome right now. of course, jumping back on board the couch after a long hiatus is always a pleasant omfg moment as well.
edit - boom more or less beat me to the sentiment.
Yup. Back in the day whenever my full suspension bike failed I'd build up my hardtail. After the first couple of rides I'd adapt again and could ride just about anything I ever could on my big bike. Sometimes straight line speed over rough stuff was compromised but overall it wasn't that different.

I love my hardtail but yeah it can be a harsh ride. I went to Moab last spring for 8 days and my kidneys bothered me for a month or two after. I've had five kidney stones and apparently that can scar up the kidneys and the pain is from that. True story. Taking the Bronson next trip there.
Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.
