Anybody here riding an 18.5? I'm thinking of picking one up and wouldn't mind having a seat on one to get a sense of sizing.  I'm 5'11 if that matters

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

Not yet. Trying to see if I can wiggle my way into a modern HT and a FS bike - and I'm pretty close!

I do, but it's the "old" (2016) geometry, so the reach is only 420 mm and not 456 mm, so it might not be any help.

it's actually a 2016 that I'm looking at. good to know the reach numbers though

Well, if you want to hop on for sizing you're welcome to (North Van).  But I'm away next week.

FWIW, the M/L fits me like a glove 5'10", long legs (32" inseam).  I have enough space for a 175 mm dropper.

i wouldn't spend money on anything but a 29" HT. you might not really know it, until you rode a 29" HT, but at that point, you'll regret it.

I've owned an Aperture and og Rootdown both in the M/L 18.5". I'm 5'8" with 31" inseam and average proportions. I really enjoyed the reach at my size, but could have used more standover--which is essentially what the medium with the 2017+ geometry offers.

IMO spend the money on an updated Wideangle vs older Samurai. I understand the mysticism of local built, but that does not replicate up to date geometry.

I had a large OG rootdown and it fit me great in everything but standover, then i sized down to my current m/l, which really is only ideal in standover (comparatively), now that its been fixed for 2017 i dont want to spend more money on a hardtail.

I kinda have Surface upgrade-atitus but know I shouldn't.  Also I'd want something more towards the Geometron side of things.
