I've been dream building steel FS bikes lately and ya skinny straight tubes are pretty nice. My current favourite Project12 Vertigo.
Swing arm gives me shivers, little to skinny in the seat stays IMO. Cotic has a decent steel bike , built with drawn tubing as well. I rode steel till I got my 1st DH bike , 1996 I went full suspension and hand built aluminum frame.

I guess it depends if they make it in Taiwan or Canada. As a comparison a UK Starling Cycles steel Murmur FS 29er [Taiwan rear triangle and UK built front triangle] is $2052CAD without a shock.
Yeah the Murmor is close, although when I looked last it was more than that by a bit, something like $2800 before whatever duties I’d incurr with shock. EDIT: 1800 pounds = $3000 CDN!
I doubt that the Cdn. Made part of the equation is a possibly at that price point, but what little economics training I have tells me that when everyone’s frames cost the exact same ($2500 for Aluminum, $3500 for carbon) there’s some room for the price to go down.
In my case I’m comparing a Hightower with some love from my LBS vs something else direct at full retail. It would have to be something very special AND cost competitive to have me give up shop support in a frame.
I rode with a guy on a Cotic recently, my steel frame boner is real becoming very persuasive.

Stanton makes a steel frame allmtn/enduro frame as well. Think it,s around 140mm of travel.

Frame is 1475 UK pounds less 20% VAT we don't have to pay in Canada = 1180 UK pounds = $2005 CAD at today's exchange without shock.

Edit: I don’t think it’s correct though. I changed my address to France, and VAT was applied. Leads me to believe the 1475 pound price is already without VAT.

Yes sorry. Looks like 1475 UK Pounds is ex VAT already. So $2506 CAD with the front triangle built in the UK.

No doubt , one sexy bike. I,m curious how the single pivot design feels. Have not ridden a single pivot design since the late 90,s. Biggest things I remember . Bio pacing and brake rise . I designed a built my own floating rear brake. That helped a ton.

loved that bike. would def recommend. the non-linkage actuated single pivot certainly has a more linear leverage rate than most pivot laden bikes, but it's not a significant detractor. easy enough to tune around with an air shock - though people are really liking these with coils as well. this bike is a great example of dialed geometry trumping fancy pants materials & suspension designs. and yeah, love the classic skinny tube aesthetics.
speaking of which, if i were buying a new frame, i'd give marino a go. full custom for $550(ish) USD. sick:

I gather you provide the shock, nice looking frame. Price is crazy wonder what it would be landed to BC. Not a lot of reviews on them , maybe a NSMB test :).
I saw a Marino Hardtail in Finale Ligure a few weeks ago....man, that was a friggin tank. Unbelievable.
I remember reading that they welded for Sick bikes and sold these hardtails for cheap.
