Anyone with feedback on the new link from cascade components for the yeti sb140, I know they work wonders on other bikes but love to hear your opinion
Cascade components sb140 link
Can someone explain these very expensive links for very expensive frames? It's surprising to me that the engineers who designed the SB140 didn't at least try this combination of positions for that link.
more progression to run a coil shock ?
The Yeti link is new but the link for the Transition Patrol has been around for a bit. Takes the Patrol from 11% to 24% progression. Which all the folks on Transition Owners Support on Facebook page swear by. I have a Scout that is 25% progressive with a coil and it is amazing compared to my last two linear bikes with air shocks.
Yeti goes from 13% to 20% so not a huge jump in progression like the Transition Patrol.
My advice, if you can afford a Yeti you can afford the link. As it will make your bike feel better.
don't forget the new coilshock, might as well throw in some carbon wheels, carbon bars, an electronic der and yer well into 5 figures

Any self respecting dentists would already have all that

Yeah, this. I guess I get why brand managers are hesitant to spec high leverage ratios to keep "average riders" (aka profitable customers) from complaining about not getting full travel. But every non-DH bike I've had, except my 2015 Devinci Spartan, has felt too linear, even with air shocks. Around 25% feels about right to me with an air shock, I'd probably want higher with coil.
A few ways to "fix" it: MegNeg, progressive coil, Cascade Link. I'm on a '19 Patrol, and my circle of riding buddies have tried all three on this particular bike, all with good results. I'm on a MegNeg since I wanted to stick with air and wanted a backup shock. The Cascade Link was tempting.
I have heard great things about the megneg
If more progression is better, why aren’t all bikes more progressive from the get-go?
its different just like airshock is different than spring shock

Most bike companies settled on about 11 to 18% progressive for air shocks. As a general rule you want linear travel with air shocks as they are more progressive
DH bikes come with coils and coils are linear so they have more progressive travel.
As someone already pointed out above the average rider wants linear so they can use full travel. Only the more advanced would want a progressive travel bike to match their riding and not blow through travel.
I'd be more concerned with whether these things are going to void the warranty on my frame to be honest.
Really, thanks for your insight into nothing that has to do with the actual question other than same dribble about dentists.
You're welcome.

Why did he say "but love to hear your opinion" in the opening post? People were even on topic and talking about progression curves etc.
Sheesh, dentists can be so touchy sometimes.....
