Carbon Wagon Wheels

Here's my Derby HD 29er wheelset.
They're laced to eThirteen LG1+ hubs with DT Champion spokes.

I've only had a handful of rides on them since the build. And, as everyone mentions about carbon rims they are stiff! It's taking a little getting used to because I'm finding myself oversteering regularly.
Although, with my new bike build I'm running a whole new setup compared to my previous 29er. Stiffer fork and carbon bars I'm sure are contributing to the laser like precision of the steering.

lots of miles now on my derby 26" wheelset, have smashed the rim hard many times with zero damage, still getting away with 25/28 psi front/back which is crazy, still haven't burped once despite trying hard.

same goes for light bicycle wide hookless 29er wheelset. flawless so far.

will add procore setup to both when its out, and i suspect i'll be good for a long time on the same wheelset which will be weird and nice.

I'm also thinking of getting the 29er version of the Magic Mary. I wonder if running that front and rear will be overkill.

Have just got one of these for the front of my Tallboy LTC and moved the Hans Dampf that was there to the back. They're mounted tubeless on the wider Nobl carbon, hookless rims, CXray's and Hopes.

The MM is a monster of a tire, not wider than the HD but much squarer due to the big side knobs. It just grips and rails so well, haven't found the edge yet, but already would have trouble going back to the HD or anything else up front.

I suspect it would be too much on the back as well, especially here in Squamish, and it definitely rolls slower, but I'm sold on it for an agressive front tire.

I'm super happy with my LB wide hookless 26". I can't remember a wheelset I've owned when I've never had to even do a little rear touch up to the spokes. Such a nice stiff wheel. Quite tough too. I had a huge blowout today on the Lower Oilcan chunder fest. I basically had to ride the majority of it at a good clip on the rim (no real choice unless I wanted to hit the deck). Two small chips on the outer edge of the rim bead, and really only what looks to be resin. Pretty impressed. I'm curious about the Pro core as well….:-)

Those seem awfully narrow by modern standards.

I look at a lot of the new rims and wheels coming out…they all look narrow (and expensive) compared to my chinese carbon rims.

any long term updates on the derby or LB's?? wider stuff living up to the claims?

Been using my LB 29er wider rims for a while now and love em. Not one burp or issue so far!

I have been running a set of the 29er hookless 30/35mm rims built up by Nobl Wheels since June, and they have been flawless.

Switched the tires out a couple of weeks ago and inspected them closely, a couple of scratches, but running perfectly true and spokes still tensioned evenly. Very happy with them.

An unforeseen consequence of wider rims is that many tires don't fit in my E29 now. The 2.3 HR2 I was running before now rubs against the chainstay quite often. I've ordered a 2.3 Specialized Purgatory Grid (which is quite a small 2.3) to try and gain a bit of clearance back.

Other than that my Derbys have been absolutely bomber. They've taken some cosmetic hits but don't seem to be phased at all.

zero issues with either of mine - derby 26 and LB 29. pretty awesome.
