My only problem with the RF Turbine is the 30mm axle and BB92 don't leave much room for bearings. I get good millage out of GXP BB's with their larger bearings. Got 1500km on my stock Sram GXP BB. When I ran 30mm cranks in BB92 the BB would only last about 800km.
In Amurica Sram offers the new GX 6k cranks with 165mm arms, 68/73 with GXP axle. So I am trying to track a pair down.

I have smacked the threads out of aluminum RF aeffects.
I have not been able to destroy a set of forged RF Turbines.
The carbon cranks I had were the original next. And yes, they were basically alloy with carbon inserts. I broke three of them, and when they broke they snapped in half.
Kudos to those who broke/bent alloy cranks. I guess the next question is, given what you did to those cranks, do any of you think they would have been fine if they had been carbon?
I've bent a bunch of alloy cranks back in the day, around the time of concrete stair drops and the move from square taper to ISIS. I felt like the cranks did their job. Those same impacts would have destroyed the carbon cranks of the time. No idea how modern carbon cranks would fare. Either way I like my cranks to bend when they fail not vaporize.

Alloy is only marginally heavier given how much tougher they are at half the price. Turbines are very tough and Atlas even tougher. Put those little boots on then smash away.

Over the last 18 months I've got 55 bike park days, and 250,000+ m of vertical on a set of Race Face Next R pedals. Tons of bike park, pedaling, shuttling predominately between Whistler and North Shore. I'd had some issues with the previous generation Next SL cranks, but the newer Next R carbon cranks have been flawless. I've also been impressed with the newer bottom brackets. Still on the original BB.

Rode XO DH for years, sold the bike with them intact. Replacement bike had SixC - I sold the third warranty set of SixCs and replaced them with Hope. Weight penalty was worth it, the SixCs just couldn't be trusted. Friend had the same experience.

Yep... my experience as well... went back to Atlas cranks... Hope are nice as well....
Carbon cranks make great door and drawer handles. We've literally loads of them at work....
I think the gx Eagle crankset seems like a pretty nice deal. Cheap (includes a chain ring), multiple arm lengths and weighs pretty much exactly the same as the race face turbines.
I am having a hard time finding GXP 165 x 68/73. I know they are transitioning to "DUB" just seams crazy that they disappeared so fast.

Are you sure SRAM made 165 cranks in 73/68? My bike had a gxp bottom bracket and I could not find 165mm gxp cranks anywhere. I think they only started doing shorter cranks for non-dh width BBs as of the new DUB stuff.
I ended up going hope cranks and BB.
