I have an air MK2 but I do know that if you inadvertently put pressure on the fork while pumping or hitting the negative spring button it can lower somewhat. I did this two weeks ago myself.
Cane Creek Helm for long travel 29ers
Thanks for the feedback! I've got the MK1 coil so no air pumping involved but there may be something else weird inside the fork.
If you are close to your bike, I'd be curious to see what are the exposed stanchion vs travel measurements on yours when it's in its "normal" state?

Definitely follow the correct order of operations when messing around with the negative spring.

Out now.
43mm offset for 29er. Extended Version 160-170mm travel. 120-160 for regular.
37mm offset for losers living in 275 era
I’m more hyped on a Selva than an ERA tbh. Both forks are held in high regard by some weird Welsh dude ;)

Hi Helm users! I just got a 150mm travel Mk1 Coil and I only have 147mm of exposed stanchions. Is that normal or do you have more exposed stanchion length than travel on yours? Thanks!
I have an mk1 set at 150. I only have an imperial tape measure but it is exactly 6" which converts to 152.5mm

Mine is 5-6mm lower for the same travel so I'll check to see if everything seems right when bumping the travel to 160. A tech at Cane Creek told me to check if the damper is sucking itself in a bit when doing the travel change. If so that'd mean it needs a rebuild right away but since it's brand new he said it's probably fine.
I don't care about the 3-5mm travel loss but I would have liked more axle to crown length : )
It will be interesting to know what's going on inside. Can you pull the fork to full extension?
I have to say, this is my favorite fork these days. It never feels overwhelmed and tracks so well. It gives great support and is the first fork I've used in years that didn't take 5+ rides to get the adjustments sorted. The people at suspensionwerx got the spring right, right out of the gate. I have the rebound cranked and it's just enough; which is the usual for me at 225. I'm kind of sorry I didn't come across these earlier, I would far rather have another one of these over my Pike and my 36. I still like my lyric pretty well now with the new debonair air spring, but still not as much as this one.
Good luck with fixing your fork
I can't pull it to full extension but I'll see when I open it up if the damper is pulling in. It feels solid though and I can feel the bottom out when pumping and releasing it quick. Natalie @ SuspensionWerx told me that it was within spec length wise, but the Cane Creek tech told me if it was more than 3mm off he would be concerned. Mine is 3-3.5mm "too low" so I'll see when I reduce travel.
The CC tech told me to replace the lowers oil since it was built 3 years ago so if my WPL oil can ship soon I'll be able to do that and check!
