As long as your order is over about $250 then shipping is generally free… may be some exceptions for larger items like bikes/frames but they are good to deal with in general.

Biggles and I orderd $600 worth of stuff in July. $8 handling and 12% HST (bastards!!) only.

I got hit with a $35 dollar processing fee on my last order thanks to the fine folks at Canadian Customs. They charged me that amount to look at it, hold up the delivery time, and decide that there was no duty that needed to be charged. Thanks guys. Other than that, I've had 7 other orders over the last couple of years with free shipping and no gst or duty charged.

There is no duty on bike parts (exception: there is duty on assembled wheelsets). However you are required to pay tax… this may or may not actually happen, my luck seems to vary with this.

If you get charged duty its because Canada Customs made a mistake. You can dispute these charges by mailing in your invoice and a form which will take about three months to process.

In addition to the form and invoice I find it more effective to include a spreadsheet that explains the mistake as Customs have in the past made mistakes while fixing their mistake!

Just be thankful UPS didn't handle it. It would have been more like $120.

Except now, bike parts are not HST exempt.
