Heard the Bullit will be back for '07 using hydroform like many of the other bikes in the Santa Cruz lineup.

I've heard diffeent stories for the Bullit. Some say it will be out later in 06..posibbly for the summer. Yet some say it will only be available in 07. I'm curious to see it since they said that they where starting from scratch fo the new bullit platform…

"Many, and I mean MANY, of the Bullit faithfuls have inquired about the absence of the Bullit in the 2006 catalog and website. Relax, it's all going to be ok. After 7 great years of dedicated service, the Bullit has entered the SCB equivalent of the witness protection program. It's currently hidden away at an undisclosed location, getting torn apart, re-designed, and ready for re-release in '2007'. It will return in all its single pivot glory, better, faster and stronger. Next time you see it the face may look a little different, but the heart and soul will remain all Bullit." santa cruz newsletter

It will be back in about 8 months (or so ive been told) and if you are afraid about re-sale value sell it before the leaks about designstart to leak out that way it should still be "sellable". As no-one will know the diffreences about the new one.

If they could make it a little lighter w/ the reliability of the "old" Bullit it could be pretty sweet. Lower BB would be an improvement. Tab for a Brake Therapy arm? Hope the price doesn't go up. I'll wait to see how many break before I plunk down anyway.

I've been waiting for them to bring it back.

I hope the new bullit has:
- 8" travel
-12mm thru axle
- little bit lower bb, little bit slacker HT
-beefed up main pivot
-Straight top tube, that is low on all frame sizes
-chainguide mount
-Keep the weight at 10 pounds with shock and spring
-Keep the price at $1099 US, with a good shock.

Pretty much like a cheap Orange 224.

8" travel SC kinda covered by the VP free.
12mm thru axle is a great idea.
I love the existing bullit geometry since I pedal mine a lot so I hope they leave that alone.
Beefed up main pivot sounds good.
Unfortunatly it'll probably have a hump but I guess that design has a great strength to weight ratio.
Chainguide mounts are good and bad, they hold the guide in place but they bust frames instead of moving if they take a huge hit.

i second that. a 224 clone at half the price. sc's freeride niche is occupied by the vpfree / nomad / 4x - i could see a lightweight, shorter travel dh race alternative to the v10 in the lineup. given his history on oranges, i wouldn't be surprised to see peaty on something like that this season…

My bet would be that Peaty will be on a V10. You don't hire a DH star to show the world that they don't need to ride your premiere DH bike.

exactly.

As for turning a bullit into a lightweight race bike, why? The bullit is a single pivot do it all bike, the only one in their lineup and their most popular bike.

the Bullit has to be called a classic now, and i think its time for it to be a classic and for SC to let it go and not bring it back in a new shape

I hope your not suggesting scrapping it completely, that would be a dumb move. If the bike still sells why get rid of it. They build bikes to sell, and the bullit does its job well.
