Even the MT5s are the tits. I've been running mine for 2 years now and still amazing brakes. For the price and power I'm not sure why or how these brakes are overlooked.

I concur after 2 years also.  Quiet, great feel, tons of power. I ❤️ my mt7s

Maguras seem like great brakes, but there’s something to be said for being able to walk into any shop and buying pads for your Shimanos or SRAMs. That’s my main hesitation with Maguras.

Who carries them/ stocks pads locally?

Orange is the Magura distributor and they're located in North Van. I've never had a problem getting pads or spare parts in a timely manner. I mean if you just do regular maintenance and notice your pads running low just get your Lbs to order some new ones plus a few extra sets. I run Kool stop pads because they work great and are super cheap.

while were on the subject, does anyone use the standard non finned pads on their Zees/Saints?  i didn't realize the price premium for the finned pads was so great. like double the price.  not sure if there's much if any performance gain outside of bike park use which is not me.

I have used both, and notice little to no difference between them, park or otherwise.

OP here - ended up going for a (lightly) used pair of Saints! I'm excited to have a strong set of brakes on my bike... that was one part of my bike that I always felt was lacking.

Magura Sports as a set are they the same as the sevens?

Would use them on the park bike?

So the Mt7 and Mt5 calipers are the same. Mt7 levers and Mt5 levers are different in that the 7 has tool free pad contact and lever adjust whereas the 5 just has lever adjust with a tool. Think of the 7 as Saint and the 5 as Zee. The Sport has the same front caliper as the 5 and 7 but a 2 piston rear.

Honestly for the price you can't go wrong with the 5. It's the same thing as the 7 only not as flashy and you can now get a 'single finger' lever similar in shape to the 7s.

I have a 5 that is going on the front and a 4 that is going on the rear of my next ride. Been on Saints for many years now and wanted a change. I will have some new(ish) Saints for sale in the near future! ;)
