avid brakes suck, hayes brakes suck even more, and my shimanos feel like shit but they're there when i need them. shimano has my vote

Its just a personal opinion. I never said that Shimano brakes were bad, I simply stated that they require alot of maintenance compared to alot of other brakes on the market.

Not sure what maintenance your complaining about. In my house we always did all the brakes on all the bikes at the same intervals (including shimano and avid).

Their system is also a little easier to bleed than avids.

CRC is having a sale on Avids

Would this be a decent brake for my rig:

It looks like only the 185mm rotor is on sale (for the front), can I still use my Hayes El Camino rotor and fork adapter?

jesus no… don't buy old codes. sticky pistons, leaky levers, all kinds of fun.

If you want Avid, I'd say 2011 Code R if you're chunky.

I'm a 4-pot Saint guy myself.

Check my stuff for sale!

The adaptor and rotor probably will work if you want to use an 203mm rotor up front

And ya, go for the 2011 Code over the 2010

Have you tried the Stroker Aces? These things fly under the radar but I've never heard a negative review from anyone. I've ridden the old and new Saint's and these are easily as strong. They may lack a tad bit of feel but they're a solid stopper.

Hmm I thought the Code R was lower end model of the Code Series?

Magura Gustavs? I love mine r/h, perfect for park riding. Their heavy though.
