Gonna revamp my drivetrain and service my Shore after 10 days, 60,000 vertical feet and 250km of downhill riding in Peru. Thinking a full Saint gruppo would be nice. My other bikes are dialed, so it is just maintain, maintain, maintain.

For my Highline:

Sunline bar and stem
Wellgo MG-1 (clipless isn't cutting it anymore)

Possibly a new rear wheel, but we'll see.

For my Bullit:
- new bars (probably the new Chromag ones)
- new stem (Thomson or Straitline as well)
- ghetto tubeless?
- new lighter tires to replace the 2.5 wirebead Nevegals and ease uphill pedaling for the winter (maybe 2.5/2.35 combo)
- Hammerschmidt?! would be nice if it didn't cost so much

Being cheap is OK. Being a clueless sanctimonious condescending douchebag is just Vlad's MO.

My hardtail:

I'm going to lower the fork to 70mm, get the new deity crankset with ti spindle, new seat, and a smaller gear ratio.

I'm even considering stripping the frame and re-painting it something different and then a clearcoat job. If I did that, I'd re-paint the fork too. Might be a cool winter project!

I was going to build a DH bike this winter, but with several interesting new designs (Evil's line and the new DW Turners, particularly) coming to market this year I've decided to hold off on that until next year at the earliest.

Last winter the Dirtbag got a major overhaul of shock, wheels, cranks, and bars and that had a noticeable positive effect on my season this year, so this winter I am going to do the same thing to my Coiler in lieu of building up a bike. I have a mostly stock '06 Coiler Deluxe that I use as my do-it-all ride, but the stock 150mm 66VF kinda sucks and the OEM build is all RF Evolve DH, making for a 38.5# trail bike.

Here's the plan:

Easton AM Havoc wheelset to drop some rotating weight and add some quality. The stock Sun rim/cheap ass Shimano hubs setup is sturdy but heavy.

Race Face Atlas or Shimano SLX cranks to replace the Evolve DHs. Hope BB.

Hope headset to replace the FSA pig that came on it.

Syncros 7075 Gain bar and AM stem

Chromag Trailmaster or Lynx saddle (reviews, anyone?)

I'm leaning toward leaving the Evolve DH post on there, because I'm about 235# and ride this bike regularly with the seat extended. Most posts I'd trust are not so much lighter as to be worth the expense of swapping.

'06 66 RC2X from another bike in the fleet, .5 pounds lighter and 20mm more travel.

Oh, and the Dirtbag is going to get a Transition AM saddle, the new Deity pedals and possibly a set of the new Deity Vendetta cranks.

agree. I pulled mine apart after this season as there was a miniscule amount of slop. things looked awesome in there; cleaned, re-greased, put back together, no slop.
