I want to adjust the travel on my 04 bighit comp to 6 inches, and im a little confused as to what holes to bolt the shock into?

there are 3 holes on the frame, and 4 holes marked A, B, C, and D in the linkage.

anyone know what to do?

There should be instructions on the frame. The two holes closest to derailleur are short travel, two holes closest to headset are long travel.

No - you dont have to. The 3 shock positions on the frame relate to the progressiveness of the shock while the 4 on the linkage plate (A-D), are for travel and head angle adjustments.

So it'll be one of the one holes closest to the mainframe - just depends on how steep or slack he wants to run the bike at. If you can, take him to a short little downhill section you can session for a bit and have a few runs down on each setting to see which you like best. Or you could find the one you like right away.

keep in mind if you have the right spring for your wieght at 7.5 Inches you will need a softer spring to run at six inches.

^^ are you sure about that? I woulda thought the change in leverage would account for that

ratio goes down on the 6 inch setting therefore softer spring is requried.

For me I have a Big Hit expert and usea 450 for 8.1 Inches and 400 for the 6.8 I also run a little less air in SPV in the 6.8 as its still a little too firm
