A mtn biking friend of mine in Washington who happens to be 6'6" is looking for a new bike, but is finding that most manufacturers don't make XXL frames.
There are actually very few companies who make anything that big.
He is looking for modern geometry FS, likely a 29er.

I know there are a bunch of big and tall riders in Metro Van, what are you riding that stands up?

at 6'2" i found the L prime to fit perfectly, so yeah i'd say the XL would be a good fit. damn stiff frame

i saw an absolute GIANT riding a ventana on the ssc a few years ago. he'd have been over 6'6" easily, said it was the first bike he'd owned as an adult that fit him

this one i recon: http://www.ventanausa.com/bikes/el-capitan/

my brother-in-law rides an XL santa cruz heckler that i found for him: he's 6'6", probably weighs between 225-250 lbs and rides pretty hard; despite it being unfashionably short in the reach department he finds the frame comfortable and hasn't managed to break it yet :)

Funny enough he is currently riding an old XL Heckler, but it is old school geometry and wheel size.

I was suggesting one of the Ventana frames as they make them in a 25" frame size with a 26.7" top tube.

Would be the lulz if no inner bottle mounts were on that frame!

I’m 6’3’’ and shrinking. I just moved from a Transition Bandit 29er to an XL Instinct. A ton of preference in bike fit, but the XXL instinct would be plenty of bike for someone at 6’6’’. I’ve ridden a Smuggler as well. The XL would definitely accommodate a big dude like your buddy.

I got him covered if he wants a smoking deal on a 2012 Bandit 29'er;-)

XL Giant Reign is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) bikes on the market right now, as long as he's OK with 650b.

I'm 6'5" and ride a XL Kona Process 153. One of the longest bikes out there along with the Giant Reign.

Reach on both is about 485mm.

I'm 6'2" around 220 on a L Knolly Chilcotin. Your buddy would probably be just fine on an XL in any of their models at his size if that's of interest. Talk to Noal.

Tis the age of long bikes your bud has never had choice like this before. I have a smuggler (6/5) and it's awesome. Have a patrol on order for more dh focused ridez. Almost everyone has joined the LLS fray including conservative stalwarts devinci and Santa Cruz. Rocky and norco should join in next yr. Tall guys rejoice. Choice abounds.
