been trying to rock out with my ipod headphones under my full face helmet and they keep falling out mid run, super annoying to say the least. do the noise cancelling style headphones work better with a helmet? any other ideas? thankss
best under helmet headphones?
I have a pair of JVC's….(HA-FX66-W) that work really well under the full face….they were relatively inexpensive (40.00)…haven't had then pop out yet and they stay in place even after removing and putting my helmet back on multiple times. My wife uses the same ones for running and she swears by them, too. For the cost you can't go wrong

The stock iPod headphones are worth about a $1 and sound like it. I have Bose at the moment and the sound is so much better than stock. But they don't stick in my ears all that well. Fine under a ski helmet and I imagine a full face because the side padding holds them in place. My XC helmets seem to hold them in OK too but they do fall out the odd time. I would think you might want something low profile so as to allow you to get the helmet on over top of them. My buddy has some small Koss ear buds that use replaceable soft foam ear inserts that you roll uo like ear plugs and they slowly swell back up to seal up well. He says they have really good sound. Those types are really good in filtering noise from external sources and therefore you don't need as much volume to hear the music. Healthier in the long term.

I love my sennheiser for riding. They run a bit more around $80-100 at futureshop but they have a more comfortable design and a better sound than some of the cheaper ones I have used in the past.
Doing it wrong.
Don't pick headphones that fit your head, install them into the helmet.
I used to use cheap $15 headphones and tuck them under the padding around the ears, coil the cord and tuck it all under the padding. Then just leave the plug sticking out. Use a Male/Female AUX audio cord that fits your jacks.
This way you don't have uncomfortable headphones pressed against your ears, and you can still hear when people are trying to talk to you and the noises your bike is making.

I agree 100%. I had a similar setup going for ages and loved it. The best thing about it is that you don't care when the headphones die. I went through two pairs of expensive earbuds before I realized that i was just gonna keep wrecking them in the rain. These days, I just use the standard ipod headphones, as i wear a skid lid most of the time and don't want to keep destroying expensive ones.
There's no place like fromme
i've been rockin the in-helmet sound for a few years now…works awesome. Plus since your ears aren't plug you can still here ambient sound.
I have a Ishuffle mounted to the visor…makes for a pretty slick system.

I used to rock this a few seasons ago. Works so good. Easy to control with gloves too.
my set up tiss a wee bit sweeter. I'll post a pic later.
I just use cheap Sony models, I do not rock the IPod though, strictly Sony, have the old Sports Stick Mp3, with arm strap, works amazing, has taken a beating when I come to close to trees and the earphones have never fallen out of my ears….

??? If yoyu want to know, I don't actually have a budget. I don't need to. So you are saying that my ears are lying to me and those don't sound good?

This is exactly what I did but grabbed some inserts from a snowboard helmet and cut the headphones out of the earpads. I then bought some industrial velcro from a hardware store and put them inside the helmet so i can still take them out if need be!
