Best compromise bike for AM + WBP (A-line) 2015

With the budget in mind wouldn't an aliminum 26'er Nomad (used) but a good option?

How about a Banshee Rune (160 mm) or Dark side (180 Mm)? Local company, good value, and you can run either 26 or 650. The new KS link design works well. Around $2300 for the rune, $2600 for the dark side with ccdb . LV Bikes carries them.

I think I'm gonna stay away from used, as the frame will probably take a shit-kicking above and beyond many an enduro frame since it will be ridden a fair amount of park DH.

With 30+ days in the park you're gonna want to err on the side of durability with your build. I'm of the opinion that you should get a DH bike for park and an enduro for trail. If you have to have one bike to do it all then my vote is banshee darkside.

I think you are searching for the holy grail here Duncan . You will either be under - biked at the park, which won't be any fun, or else you will be slogging a heavy bike up the hills, which won't be any better than your Faith. Why not just keep your current bike for the park and get something more pedal friendly for AM riding? You probably won't be able to transfer all the parts from your Faith anyways, since most new frames use a 142 mm rear spacing, and may not be rated for a 180 mm fork. Banshee frames come with bolt on dropouts, so you can run whatever wheels you want.

Banshee Rune or Darkside, SC Newmad, I have a friend on a Knolly DT that rides everything…it's heavy but he loves it. The Chili is also a good bike…lighter and just as capable I hear.

Banshee Rune also has adjustable geo on it, so for the more pedally days you can steepen up that head tube angle and feel a bit more nimble on the trails… They aren't light, but they are built tough. Being 26 or 27.5, your used options for parts are quite strong. There are some deals out there for sure…

I think the Transition Suppressor is another bike you should consider.

Get 2 shocks. A coil for WBP, and an air for everything else.

The Marz 350 has me impressed too…..but for WBP id like a vengeance coil without the creaky crowns.

Met a guy in line last year at WBP that had a Rune V2 and kept two shocks and two forks, would swap to 180mm/coil for park and 160mm/air for S2S.

Cheaper than having two bikes, may get annoying to be switching fork and shock on a regular basis.
