OK have read some past threads along this line, but I'm feeling they are a little dated now that technology has advanced somewhat. I know there is no "perfect do-it-all-bike" for, say the North Shore, Squamish, Whister Trail and the bike park (I do about 25-30 days at WBP each summer).
I have been riding a FR bike at the Bike Park (Giant Faith) for 3 years, and do a lot of A-Line and DM, and I am technically proficient enough to clean Goat's gully and give In Deep and Fatcrobat full lovin' on a 180mm travel bike, but at the same time I'm not into Crabapple or airing out big drops (say [HTML_REMOVED] 6 feet) at high speed.
Any suggestions for what, if anything comes close? I am currently thinking of building it up from a frame (frame cost under $2200) if possible. I'd prefer to keep costs down, so Aluminum 26-er works best. Doable, or no? Or would the inevitable result just be a bike that sucked at everything?
