Bars with backsweep

I used to run 9's for many years, then did the 8 of Chromag bars and found sore elbows. Moved to 10's and 11's (the Salsa 11's I gave to Syncro). Now running 15's and I like them a lot. Personally don't find any issue with the 15's on steeps, tech, or aggressive riding. Going to get a set of 16's mostly because the specific set is lighter and I am looking to build a lighter trail bike next.

As my wrist is healing I've tried my fubar more and while it's better than it was thanks to the healing there's still a bit of discomfort to the point where I think even a couple degrees would work and at the same time work well in techy stuff.  I also lowered the bars a small spacer's worth and for some bizarre reason that's helped (also helps my climbing.)  I think I will try a PNW Range out as the price is good, reviews are good and it's 2-degrees more swept back.  If that doesn't work then I'll go SQ Labs....

So I just started using a PNW Range which has 10-degrees backsweep and I've got to say, despite being only 2-degrees more backsweep than the Fubar OSX I was on, it seems to be the sweet spot for wrist comfort and still getting the elbows out in techy stuff.  Still need to fine tune cockpit, stem spacers, possible trimming but most of that's because of a slightly higher rise and being 800mm compared to the 770 my Chromag was at.  I might even go from 60mm stem back to 50mm.

Suffice to say 10-degrees is noticeably more comfortable for me.

installed the SQ Labs 16º 30mm bars on my G16 last week. So far so good.

Further observation going from 8-degree to 10-degree back sweep.  Never underestimate the effect of only 2 degrees.  The comfort level on my wrists and hands is night and day.

I just did the same swap on both my bikes. One bar had three years and was retired. I like my bikes set up as sme as possible so two bars and a set of their XL grips for each as well. A subtle difference but a difference. The 8° bars had some pressure on my hands on the thumb side which is lessened with the 10° bars.  I like 750 width on the squishy bike and 740 on the hardtail. My hands don’t seem to fall asleep the same. I’ll see in coming days on longer rides if the hands stay awake.

FYI - Took ~3 weeks to arrive from Europe, but bars arrived without issue. No taxes/duties/brokerage fees. The parcel just showed up.

Does anyone know of a 12' bar that's 800mm wide? I've been running the SQ Lab 12' carbon in 780 and it's been surprisingly good but I think when I do a new build soon I want to go back to 800.

Salsas are 11degrees and 800mm if that’s close enough for ya.

Nice one. The SQLab 12' backsweep and 4' of upsweep. The Sala is 11' and 6' upsweep. That is close enough! Both are 31.8 only which is fine with me.

There are flat ones too if you swing that way.

I was only able to find the more 'normal' rise bars in a too narrow 700mm width, and I'm not ready to jump to 70mm rise bars yet. 

The Salsa do look interesting though, I'll have to check in with my LBS that deals with Salsa
