Anyone had experience with Avid Code 5s?
If so for what kind of riding, pros/cons, etc

code 7's - ultimate levers, code calipers.
massive stopping power, little fading, solid levers, easy to bleed.
short pad life, sticky caliper pistons.
i imagine code 5's would be similar.
mine used to get losses of power at radom times then i bled the front and its good. the rear got bled twice and its still bad
codes can be a little bit of a pain to get working right but if you bleed them right to the letter and make sure you bleed both sides of the caliper then there is normaly no problems with them, just most people dont bleed both sides witch can make problems and they dont bleed them the right way, there is lots of tech videos on youtube and I watch it and then bleed them as im watching it again to make sure I dont miss a step or do it backwards.
code 5s should be about the same just not as adjustable
I run Code 5s on my only bike (Norco Shore) on Whistler and Shore riding. I agree with most of the above comments. Good power when bled properly and regularly, but power fades fast when they need bleeding or new pads.
I need new pads and a bleed currently
I've got codes. I think the 5s or 7s would both be an improvement. My code levers are leaky and problematic - The calipers have been solid. Elixer levers would be swell.
Get hopes

Ha Ha! Made you look.

Hate to nit pick, but it's actually a juicy 7 lever, as the name implies…
But apart from that I had the same combo and they were great. Now I have a Elixir CR Mag lever [HTML_REMOVED] Code caliper combo, and in a lot of ways they are better. But I don't like them as much. Can't workout why.
:england:
Do it.
So much better than Mags. And although I like the Strokers myselfs, if the price is right on the Codes and you can pull a good bleed you'll be pleased with the all 'round performance. Solid brakes for sure.
"It's, like, so much fun."
Went for the Code 5. Worked out fantastic on the first ride with them. Can't wait for them to get more broken in. Much nicer lever feel than my mags but the contour is going to take a bit to get used to.
thanks guys
