2019 rolled into 2020 and it seemed like everything bling was being done in oil slick. Is it played out? Are all those folks who dropped serious cheddar on xx1 drivetrains going to have to double down to get rid of them in 2021? I feel like we are at the point where we are going to see every CCM bike rolling out of Canadian tire in oil slick in 2021. Thoughts on oil slick? Thoughts on where bike graffics/colours are headed in this new year?

I feel like the old brodie paint splatter is due for a comeback - so Jackson Pollack

I prefer straight up black ano to oil slick, but if it crossed my path free, cheap or as the only alternative in a COVID supply chain strangled world I'd use it without a second thought. Given where/how I ride I don't see a lot of other mountain bikes in person...especially these days...so oil slick isn't played out for me. I can't recall seeing one oil slick part in 2020 in the flesh. OTOH it's never struck me as that attractive a finish. Not bad, but not worth extra effort or $$ to get on my bike.

Whereas I hate Kashima. If you offered me a free Fox Kashima product, but I had to use it and couldn't sell/trade it away I would politely decline your generous offer.

I never really see it in "real life" either. I really wanted to try an SDG bel air v3 and I could only get one with oil slick rails.

It's a little purpley looking for my taste but seat rails are not a super evident part either. Honestly at a gIance I don't really notice oil slick.

I find the problem with oil slick it sticks out like a sore thumb, and doesnt fit well with most anything else.

I'm quite fond of this newer 'oil rub' finish though, bought a new stem just  because of it

K, oil rub is freaking awesome 👌.  I need a set of chris king hubs with matching headset in that

Wonder if Pollack used the stir stick.

I have no oil slick parts, but am a big fan of being able to choose funky colours.

My F purple, R orange hubs, red rims, green bar and pedals, and mismatch orange body / blue face stem mean I only diss 'murdered out' bikes. Any other scheme you choose won't offend me.

Finally, bike parts that match the original hardware in my craftsman house.

Also, this finish is awesome. Death to boring “murdered” (ooooooo, edgy) out bikes.

The finish is nice, keeps a low profile until you check it out up close. My frame is also matte dark green which is basically murdered out from any more than 5 feet away

Is there a picture of this bike somewhere I can see? Sounds either awesome, interesting or both.

For ten minutes. Oil slick is the modern version of purple, sorry 3D violet. Black or clear ano is safest. Maybe a coloured stem but I dislike the matchey matchey shit people do.
