My friend did the same on his. I pointed out however that the lower cage bolt that's fixed into the bash guard could puncture the downtube if smacked on something.

Not going to happen. That is a very strong hunk of aluminum. If you strike something hard enough to bend in, probably damaging the rivnuts in the process and still have enough force to push a 5 mm nylock into that frame, that is the least of the worries.

so a couple of my buddies have the new reign. my observations riding with them here on the b+K is that the reign climbs as good as my 2103 sight and descends as good as my six. my buddie can do on one bike what takes me two . yes my sight climbs better in the true tech gnar, but i don't actually do that much tech gnar climbing. and the six might descend a bit more comfortably..but not much really on either … I'm def considering a reign for 2016.. the 650b seems like a pretty good way to go.also i agree w ned overends comments recently about the larger whls..(maybe not full 29 but i don't live in colorado)

We are loving the new Reigns. - I can now take on more high speed technical climbing (over my 100 mm hardtail 29er), at least until my lungs give out. Keeping up with the Coastal crew on cutties was a challenge, but I had one great run with Dylan and Curtis in my sights last time on the coast.

I have a Reign Advanced 1 that I want to convert to tubeless. Someone must have done this before.

Do I need the Giant specific conversion kit or can I use any kit? Anyone know what width the tape needs to be?

Pretty sure the tyres and the rims are compatible.

gorilla tape and a bottle of sealant usually does the trick

Has anyone else noticed their back axle backing off when riding? I'm confident I'm not hitting it with my foot, but I do need to keep an eye on it.

Also, my Reign loves 4 bottomless rings in the Monarch. I'm 210lbs and I was struggling with finding that sweet spot between small bump and bottom out. 4 rings in there and the whole bike is happier. I feel like I get less deflection because the wheel is striking things in its travel, compared with always being at the bottom on a hit.

Cheap and easy mod that made a real difference in the ride of my Reign.

I haven't had that problem.

I have had that problem with the axle backing off on my reign as well. Don't have it on my other bike and they share the same axle.

yeah i had the same problem on mine. Had to clean it and then grease it, makes it hold better but i still had to check it at the bottom of every section just for peace of mind
