i've got a stem that i'm partial to except that it's silver and i'd like it to be black.

anyone know roughly how much it would cost to get it anodized? is painting a good option?

if you have other parts you want anodized it can be pretty reasonable but for a single part it can be expensive. I would think around $50.00 unless the shop can throw it in with other stuff they have. I know there is a place in Port Moody that I went to and that's a recap of what he told me.

thanks. it's purely cosmetic but i'd try it out if it was only $20 or so.

Call an ano shop and see if they will throw it in a batch of black that they are already doing.

i used krylon on an alu stem i had and then put it in a slow oven for a few hours to harden it. was absolutely rock hard and since a stem doesn't usually get bashed around too much it lasted fine. cost like $5

thanks eddie, that's the kind of answer i was hoping for. any chance you remember the type of krylon you used? they've got a zillion types at krylon.com.

btw, went to bayridge bikes like you recommended. picked up a bmw saddle as a souvenir.
