After much teeth gnashing, humming, hawing and pestering some guy named Andrew Major who apparently knows a thing or two about thrillcrafts, I finally arrived at a decision about a new two-wheeled mountain riding apparatus.

Parts are on the way and I will start building things up in the next week or so. I ended up going full squish and 27.5 wheels. By the time it's said and done build price should come in at $2k.

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

What I chose came down a lot to price and it fit the type of bike I was looking for - it's a strong pedal up and smash down kind of bike. It's also metal and not plastic which mattered as I don't like the idea of smashing a plastic bike off of sharp pointy rocks on some of the trails I like to ride. I had the opportunity to get a good deal on a plastic wonderbike - carbon Reign with carbon wheels and all the goodies - but it was more than I wanted to spend. I could have had the Reign for $3K, which I agree is worth the extra $1000 over what I'll be spending, but I'll be using that $1K for other things. At the end of the day the bike I build up will perform just as good for me as the more expensive bike so I didn't see any point in spending another $1K for what would basically be trail side high fives at how awesome the new rig is.

As to what it is exactly why spoil the surprise - I'll just leave a few clues. It will also be running one of these strange devices:

It converts $7 into $700 worth of functionality

After seeing the butt plug I'm already a little disappointed.

Everyone knows Ice T would roll on the Shorty's.

I assume it's in the 150-160mm travel range since you mentioned a Reign.

I've been running DHRII F/R on my Surface. DH bike has been Magic Mary F/R or HRII/DHRII F/R. G16 is Rock'r 2/DHRII F/R.

If weight and rolling resistance is of no concern for yourself; Rock'r 2.
