I have a raw aluminum frame that I am going to build up soon. Does anyone know what I could use to coat the aluminum to protect it and keep the freshly built but unpainted look?

i had a couple raw letoys that held up fine with no finish at all. the second frame i polished with mothers aluminum polish - looked pimp, and just needed touchup in the high wear areas every few weeks.

what about powdercoating it clear. that would be more durable i think.

the clearcoat that comes in spray cans will rub off your top tube where your knees/thighs rub on the frame. if you want your coating to maintain a thick or glossy looking finish i would suggest using something stronger and more durable than clear coat
