whats the point of this armour. is it suitable for real dh and freeride or it it meant to be worn over something or what…it just seems thin to protect against impacts or whatever, no?

Looks like a motox chest protector to me. I'm sure there's sufficient padding where it's important. I would imagine it's a less warm alternative to the pressure suit, which is what I would get if I were DH'ing full time.

I'm pretty sure it would prevent broken ribs and whatnot. There was a discussion on here before about the so-called "roost defelectors," and apparently they do work well and even motox people use them for impact protection.
