36h hub and 32h rim?

This is for a BMX cruiser, 24" wheels. I have a 36h Shimano DXR hub laced to rinolites. Was thinking about changing to syncros 24" rims 32h. Can a 36h hub be laced to a 32h rim?

Technical yes, but that doesn't mean you should do it.

disadvantage: mostly extra work and increased level of difficulty. you'll need a few different lengths of spoke to compensate for the spacing difference, and tensioning the wheel won't be as straightforward. but if you're willing to go through that and get the wheel build properly then, besides perhaps getting laughed at now and then for having done something goofy, you shouldn't experience any signficant drawbacks.

yeah, i did this. i wouldn't suggest it and you end up with some funny tensions going, but it works.
