31.8mm vs 35mm is bigger really better??

My bike came with a Race Face 35mm Turbine bar and stem combo. After 8 rides I can confirm the 35mm is a lot stiffer. It does not seem to offer any high frequency absorption. Has anyone else notice this?

I am to get a new bar and I will be going with a 31.8mm Sixc bar and Turbine stem.

I miss my old 25.4mm Race Face Air Alloy bars… LoL

I should also add I am sure for big dudes running wide bars the 35mm interface is a must for strength. But I am not a big dude nor do I run wide (28") bars.

I don't mind 35mm, but I'm going back to an aluminum 31.8mm bar because it has a little more flex. The Joystick carbon bar I had was pretty harsh.

My carbon bar was 780mm and my aluminum bar is 800mm.

The RF and Easton 35mm carbon bars have the same amount of flex and strength as their 31.8 counterparts but are lighter.

1st gen Easton 35mm carbon bars were too stiff, but a running change to the layup was made to match the stiffness of the 31.8 bars.

Can you run a 30mm stem with 35mm bars?

32 is the shortest i've seen (easton)

I have a 35mm long gravity lite stem in 31.8mm diameter I found on PB's buy [HTML_REMOVED] sell. I paid too much for it but it matched my bar!

35mm bars are usually lighter than their 31.8mm counterparts. I say usually because the new 35mm Chromag OSX Fubars are heavier than the 31.8mm OSX Fubars.

I want to get the most high frequency absorption I can from a bar and around 28". The 31.8 seems like the best fit

There are some options out there, but since I referenced RF, no. 35mm Atlas is the shortest they make. Plenty short if you ask me.

Have you ridden a 31.8 SixC bar before? I tried one and it was stiff as fuck. Had to swap back out to an alloy bar as I was getting crazy hand fatigue and arm pump. I gave it a try for six rides and after swapping back to alloy all was good again. No other changes to my bike. WAAAAY too stiff IMHO…

Ive been thinking of filing a bar with low expansion foam for fun from Homedepot should act the same exact way..?

Its "even-steven" as far as weight goes, any saved weight on a 35mm bar is lost on the heavier 35mm diameter stem.
(At least when comparing Race Atlas Stem/SixC bar combo's)
However, for what ever reason…I do prefer the fat 35mm over the smaller 31.8 bars
