Gorilla Tape is THE WORST!

There is a thread on mtbr with all the tapes people use and have tried.

FYI WAO tubesless Tape is/was just some Tessa Tape one can buy from almost anywhere.

Same with Spank rim tape, it,s Fratelli tape. Made by the company that makes their rims. Seems to be the only tape that stick to them as well.

Haven’t tried the rim strips, but the plugs that come with Roval wheels are genius. They’re plastic with rubber seals and you pop one in each spoke hole.

They never lift up when you change a tyre and they save about 50 grams a wheel. Not sure why the rest of the industry hasn’t done us a favor and stolen this idea.

Why not just cut 32 squares out of tape and apply to each hole individually? Would be even lighter I bet.

Is that sarcasm? Because the bits of tape could still lift when levering a tire, and you need to cut/apply 32 little pieces of tape?

Are these rim strips a plastic full loop similar to the trek/bontrager ones? I hope so as I love those for rims that they fit.

I don't know what the trek/bontrager ones look like, but yep, they're plastic rim-strips.

They never claimed to be for tubeless application.  Spoke holes probably vary so much from rim to rim manufacturer that there is no way they could guarantee a air tight seal with these plugs. They are a replacement for rim tape (note how they say 'cloth' in their description) for us heathens who still use tubes.
