I have an opportunity to pick up a 26er stylus, I am looking for a bike that will be fun for f'ing around at the pump track and fart around with my kids. It's my size and I think it'll be a good fit. Any advice? Talk me out of it if I'm completely delusional.

Love hardtails, currently have a couple, all 29er, thanks

Go for it if the price is right. The only real issue is finding tires and maybe rims when you need them. Usually you can order these things but your local shop probably don’t stock these 26 parts.

Do it.

Straight steerer or room for tapered? If straight I think you're stuck with rigid, or maybe a Manitou Circus (not a bad thing).

Schwalbe still makes 26" tyres, and there are rim options around.

As long as you are not picky you'll find the parts you need to get it and keep it rolling.

Depending on the year it might even allow 27.5 wheels.

Yes and no. The early models of the Stylus like my 2007 edition while built for a 26' wheel. It was clearly factored in to be able to use huge ass 2.6 to nearly 3". Know this as had a set of Panaracer's DH on it I think where 26x2.7"  and room to spare. While didn't try it on the Stylus before it was stolen in 2015.  But have seen around the internet here and there riders using 27.5 wheels with 27.5x2.25 tires no problem.

Similar to the 2007 Samurai where did run it with 27.5 x 2.25 tires on 27.5" wheel.

If that is the one.  Can tell you having the 2007  version head tube when built will be higher then the current versions of the Stylus or newer bikes with the low head tube and bar height.  I have noticed that and had to get a higher rise bar for the 2020 version.

Also note that I don't believe the 2010 version was made with the ability to run an internal dropper post. Looks like it was done after purchase. Not a bad thing but something to be aware of.

That is it. Yes, thank you. External dropper I think which is sweet. Thanks for the stack height tip, cheers

I had a 26" Stylus.  I think ~2012 model year - was a year or two before they went to 27.5 wheels.

Be aware that the seat tube angle is stupid slack - like 70*.  Which, for me, made any sort of uphill seated pedaling almost impossible.  I guess the on the plus side I did finally develop some proper standing climbing strength...

Its a bombproof frame.  Which is good.  But being built like a tank means the whole "steel has a lively, forgiving ride feel" is a fallacy with this frame.
