2020 Fox 36 grip2: play in compression

Hey all,

I've got a 2020 Fox 36 Elite with a grip2 damper that has developed a knocking noise. When I hold the bike up by the stem, I can compress the fork with my hand holding onto the fork lower. The play is enough to create this knocking noise.

How do you fix this?

Air in the damper? Something loose inside? I’d be inclined to at least drop the lowers and fiddle with the damper shaft and air shaft.

My 2020 36 had play in the lowers. I figured it was bushings and they replaced the lowers and my shop was told that the lowers were too big. That was it, the lowers were too big. I think they mean the tolerances of he lowers were too sloppy. It's better now. If you have a funny sound or play, send it back before warranty is up!!!!

Don't try to service it, don't take it apart, don't do anything except contact Fox or your local bike shop to have it sent in under warranty.

I was a tech at the Fox distro in Vancouver before they moved to their own distro and the amount of forks I had to correct shoddy work on and then tell them that damaged internals from improper service is not warranty was way too high... just get it done right at the proper service center.

I'm confused, which one is the proper service center? Fox out in Burnaby? Or is that one doing the shoddy work?

Fox Burnaby or Suspension works are the only place i would take my Fox suspension if I wasn't doing it myself.
