Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has experience on either or both rides? Thinking of buying or building one up for the WBP next summer. It will not be built for pedalling.
Ive ridden Glory 0's for a few years in the park and after selling mine earlier this year I have been riding my trail bike in the park. It has opened my eyes to how much fun a lighter more playful bike can be in the park. Other than the durability factor, I almost think that unless I race, a full on DH sled for me is overkill.
Was thinking Float X2 rear and 36 180 up front. RF Sixc if I can find them for a good price. Suggestions or comments on builds, components, likes, dislikes are welcome.
Im wanting to build it light but not total weight weeny light. Just "lighter" if that makes sense?
Thanks
Todd
2015 Banshee Darkside or Scott Voltage
I spent quite a bit of time on the 27.5" Voltage in the bike park, the same one Garret reviewed here. I set it up with 760mm bars, and changed the headtube angle to 63deg with the included headset cups.
I didn't notice much of a difference riding the jump trails with 650B wheels. Felt really comfortable on the jumps, stable and able to pop easily. Felt better than my 26" DH bike on the tech trails, rolled over stuff more easily, even at slow speeds.
I initially had it set to 190mm, then set it to 170mm. Immediately felt a (good) difference on the jumps. Had to put a little more thought into the tech stuff, but I felt faster (not sure if I was).
Hard to manual the Voltage, I can manual from one whoop to another on my 26" DH bike with ease but couldn't do it on the voltage.
Didn't have Garret's problem of the rear tire striking my ass on the steeps, even though I'm shorter. Different riding positions probably.
Felt confident on the Voltage, rode stuff I would be a little more scared/concerned riding on a trail bike.

Thanks for the reply and the links to the articles Kaz. Do you think it would suit an air shock, Cane Creek or X2 for example? Anything you would change on the build?
Now to try and find one!
Todd
I think an air shock would feel right at home on the Voltage. No experience with either, but I've heard nothing but good things for both shocks, aside from some people telling me their DBair feeling "sticky".
Not much I would change on the build kit aside from brakes, the XTs didn't have quite the oomph for the park, though they did hold up fine. Changed the seat on the one I rode because I didn't like the pointy seat.
