Rumored 180mm Float, Talas and Van forks released. I forsee many a totem in the buysell.

36mm stanchions = teh fail. I'd like if it were an SC 40. Talk about a missed opportunity.

I want the 36 180mm TALAS. Talk about one hell of a replacement for the Domain on my SS. :S guess where my tax return is going to go? :P (when it's available that is)

looks like a lighter duty 180mm fork. between what will probably be a high price, and the fact that I couldnt get it for awhile, I'm happy to stick to the totem I have on order.

am I missing something or are all the steertube's 1.125? doesnt list other options or there are no other options?

I'm useing the totem on a fairly burly build, and 40mm stanchions and 1.5 steertube ftw in regards to stiffness

laughing at assumptions based on a photo on the internet.

do you really think Fox would wait this long to release their 180mm single crown and not have it dialed in?

sure it'll be dialed in, but how much is that new bling "kashima coat" + 180mm travel going to add to the price?

between that and the fact I can ride my totem now (or at least in a week when my frame gets here) its not worth the wait. Maybe next year

Im guessing its going to be to the totem what the fox 40 is to the boxxer team, great perfomance but at a price.. they are going to get a decent amount of first year bling purchases, but will have a more niche market due to the higher price so you'll still see more totems on the trails than these.

who knows, maybe I'm wrong and they'll price it against the totem.

edit. dont forget that I recently got a totem to put on my new build, so dont dont discount my ability to irrationally explain away internet pictures and spec sheets in order to make me feel good about my purchase ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong but looking at how they priced the 831 to other dj/4x forks I would say the chance is slim to none.

If Pinkbike's accurate I can't see myself getting a 180mm Talas. If they'd come out with a 180mm SC with 40mm legs a la Totem I'd be all over it.

I'd second that Fox has indeed missed an opportunity here.

The Domain is 35mm and 180mm Travel. So was the Travis 203. Why do you need 40mm?

They're going to be available end of May…

1 1/8" or Tapered only. Straight 1.5 is a thing of the past, along with boat anchor stems.

No upcharge, but only available aftermarket.

What's stopping you from getting a totem then?

Also it looks like the axle to crown height wont change that much. so the leverage should be about the same as the old 36

I'm not a huge fan of Rock Shox's 20mm maxle.

What I can't understand is everyone was stoked to see a 170mm lyric (35mm stanchion), and now it seems a few people are complaining that the 36mm legs won't be enough for 180mm.

I don't get it either.
