What's the largest fork I can stuff on a 2011 CARBON ROCKY MOUNTAIN ELEMENT? Would a FOX 36 RC2 fit or is the frame too small?

I had an Element MSL with a 44 RC3 - 140mm. It felt great, but that would be as slack as I would like it.
Are you planning to lower the fork? I think the regular 160mm of the 36, would be too much for that frame.
An axle to crown length of 490.9mm (120mm Fox 32) max is what we (RMB) specify. This covers our design parameters when we consider strength and intended usage of the frame.
I've seen a few users on the trails with 140mm models from different brands: Fox (32 chassis), Marz (44 series), Rock Shox (Revelation) that were ok with voiding the frame's warranty and happy with the performance. A 36 at 130mm travel would be about the same A-C as the above choices but you would have to ask Suspensionwerx if it is possible to lower a Float 36 to that travel amount.

This and I had that frame and it is a total charger. One of the funnest bikes I have had to get rowdy on and it punches way above its weight class.
The float 32 though isn't up to the beating the bike can dole out though and you would be well served in finding something like a 34/35mm chassis you can lower the travel on.
It really is a solid performer and pedaller too. Just keep those bushing maintained.
According to FOX literature the new 36 FLOAT RC2 160 can be lowered to 110mm

OK next stupid question. I have a couple of rims that come with the above bike. They are DT Swiss. M1700 Spline on the front and EX1750 on the rear. I am literally gear illiterate. How durable are these rims? If I'm riding things like Treasure (new trail in Squampton) should I be looking at beefier wheels? I was looking to build up a light rig but I think this frame and wheelset is a little more cross country than all mountain.
Opinions?
The ex 1750 are essentially ex500 rims laced to DT hubs. Burly wheel. Not sure about the spline 1700
Spline 1700 is a narrower rim. I believe it is the same as a M480 rim. Think of it as light duty trail, probably perfect for the Element unless you are a brute on the bike.
I've smashed and bashed the EX1750 for over 2 years now (26" version mind you). A few times it's needed truing but that's been it. Decently happy enough with it.

It is easy to figure out only if the customer brings the complete bike into the shop for warranty.
We've dealt with enough warranty scenarios that we can tell if it's bogus or not. Also, we only warranty for original owners with a receipt. Most warranties are handled through your LBS and those that are not go under more scrutiny.
If we received an Element RSL/MSL in for warranty on a cracked front triangle near the headtube, we'd investigate closely because we haven't seen that type of failure yet and those frames have been out since 2011.

I think Thomas and Wade tossing the bikes of 15ft drops in a promo video on the shore with 140mm forks kinda proves the front of the bike isn't going to fail with a longer fork.
