^ I agree with that fully. It's a pity how companies all too often change designs simply because they want something new to market. Good to see that Specialized, while I am not a fan of the company in general, decided to keep the SX Trail as it was. It's awesome as is.

I think you kinda see the same trend with more established company that put alot of $$ in R[HTML_REMOVED]D. Santa Cruz is another manufacturer that does not overhaul their entire line every year.

that is true. but then again, they have diff models of enduro, why not make another one specifically for slopestyle. I think Demo 7 is too heavy for that stuff.

course the fukn stupid Paint/artwork coming out Spec. lately didnt help either..
nice to see 08 is returning to a sence of maturity/class.. but i still dont fathom the call on oddball colored seatstays/link plates and headset/hubs..
a bike should never have more then 2 colors.. primary paint and then black for parts spec.. it makes a bike look like a complete design instead of appearing as a mishmash of left overs from the parts bin…
even this year i see Spec. has blue swinglinks/headsets but Orange hubs.. WTF ?…

Yeah 135x 10 is pretty flimsy. but After switching to bolt-on hub. It has been not as noticable.
12x150 is super solid.

paid to use for a decade or something.

Exactly, 135 with a bolt-on hub is just as stiff as 150 and I don't think an average rider can notice the difference.

after having the 05 sxtrail, its just so flimsy compared to the frantik due to the rear end.
they also really seem to have the specific uses nailed down with their line. and it just seems a lot sweeter to me

That bike is closer to perfection than anything but it needs tweaking.

65 degree headangle (with 180mm SC).
Half inch lower BB.
1" more travel.
83x150mm would be nice but not essential.
Half inch to an inch on the chainstays.
1" shorter seatube.
And scrap the Demo 7.

Specialized likes to change their models every 3 years… keeps manufacturing costs down. The bike is spot on imo for an all rounder. 09 will have a new model coming out…. stay tuned.

having owned a Big Hit and an Ollie, the rear suspension feels very different despite both being four-bar/horst pivot setups, just as Ellsworth's ICT feels totally different to FSR or Devinci's 4-Bar…looks similar but the fine detail (pivot locations, axle path, etc.) means its a different ride
Devinci made the smart move of switching to a full-length seatube, the interupted seatube on the SX Trail is a pain if you want to pedal…
Devinci run their pivots on needle roller bearings which keeps things tighter and stiffer for longer, and the bolt-through 150mm x 12mm dropouts obviously helps in this respect
Devinci's setup is an evolution of the original FSR and somewhat different
whether the SX Trail needs 1.5" and 150mm x 12mm is debatable considering its not being sold as an "extreme freeride" frame, more " aggressive all-mountain / freeride lite"?
