2007 Specialized

i like where the fabrication techniques have gone and are going. seems like specialized is making headway in that direction. i like the extruded (for lack of better words) tubing, and cold forged magnesium. that bike is somthing that a very talented welder/fabrication could not make. the front deralier mounts are sweet too.

not a fan of that new fork on the enduro, but that front deraileur mount is pretty awsome. hopefully the demo's are solid though.

hope the Demos make it to the Uk

we got the 2007 Dealer book, the Big Hit and SX Trails in there….but no demos???

dirty deeds - to be clear, I'm not bagging on Specialized. I'm just not convinced that the world needs another 6" fork.

While I totally agree with you, if everyone took that approach, then there would be no change or innovation. It's a catch 22.

Personally I would much rather see Specialized settle down a little and try to get some cost reduction done on their frames. I like Special Ed, but I have found that they offer little (other than status) over the competitors, and charge more.

I think that Specialized is already very good at some of the things it does, but could get better at others. Rather than take on new projects of this scope, I'd like to see them improving their existing products - even if they're not huge, glizty projects like the fork.

Exactly my point. I remember back in 03, I got my Norco Team Shore, a friend bought the Orange Bighit. There were elements on each bike that I thought to myself, if Norco could put in the attention to details like Spec, and Spec could meet a good no compromise price point like Norco, and so on, then you would have a perfect bike.
Norco has the attention to detail and still meets the price points, Spec is a brilliant company that can't offer a reasonable proced bike because it keeps changing everything all the time and taking on more than they can handle.

Sorry Esher… No Demos in the UK is the line from Spec UK, I talked to them when we got the dealer book… and apparently (and unsurprisingly) i wasn't the first to call!

Disagree - I think Spec have hit the right balance of design improvements /QC /price point better than any of their main competitors over the years.

Don't forget they own the horst link patent and all they've ever done every year is refine it to the various model applications. Tweak, tweak, tweak. They've never reinvented the wheel.

Personally I think they'll live to regret going with house brand forks [HTML_REMOVED] shocks, especially ones that clunk and cause a line up at the repair tent… but hey, Spec no doubt has a building full of the best marketing and product managers in the business, so who am I to second guess them. They'll probably do just fine.

You know, when I first saw the new Demos, I thought they were really ugly. But the more I see them, the more I like them. And that paint job on the 7 is very interesting. In a good way.

what is the theory behind the alltitude adjustment, is that fork carburated???

the new enduro is a really good looking, functional, AM bike. the current enduro… is just functional.
