Well I want a small dually for trail, some light DJing. I want pedal efficiency but also be able do the odd drop maybe the highest 5ft. What u think of the 2005 Norco 4by??
2005 Norco 4by...You thought please??
my friend has one and he loves it,i had an 02 and they are perfect for jumping and trails and even bigger drops if your smooth rider…….
the 05 4by is beefy. It could take pretty much any riding you throw at it, i think. But it weighs over 40 pounds.
how is the performance of the Fox Float R rear shock
My 02's killer, I can only imagine tha the hydo formed frame on the 05 is even burlier… Did they really bulk it up THAT much? I'd think the newer tech frame would be lighter espescialy since it look alot more like a factory race bike than the jumper/4x/mini shore of the old style frame :???: for 4.3in or travel, they really feel like a bigger bike.

If you expect to "only" be dropping it 5ft…you should be able to easily get away with riding a lighter bike than the 4by.
Ive got one, I had an 02 4by4 before it, and built up with the smae parts i had it was 1 pound heaveir, the rear end is really beefed up compared to the other models, im really impressed with it, pedals really well, dont notice any brake jack at all, lots of standover, and the colour is way better then the picture on the norco site, its almost an dark orange, its an awsome bike.

i ride the 03. and yeah its heavy as fuck for what it is. 42. with slider plus and dual michis and 729s. but its worth every second. i love it
My bro rides an 04 4by. Complete stock. It weighs in at 42 lbs. This is his first bike in 15 years. He's loving it, the only downside is his 225 lb ass tends to bottom it out, but he's lining up a new spring. He's just starting to take it off 5+ drops and gaps and it seems to be doing him very well.

They also have a Travis which I pushed on and it feels pretty sweet.
My question is the durability of the Fox Float R????
the air shocks are much durable than they were 2 years ago,
i've heard that you can do 5-6 without any problem even if you weigh more than 200lb
not Ryder
I have an 02 frame and I love it. You can do just about anything on it. I use mine for 4x, DJ, Whistler, Shore, etc. if you dont have a ton of money and can only afford one bike this is the one to get.
i dont have the float on mine, but my friend does, and he beat the heck out of it and it still feels awsome, id trust it.

yeah, I completely agree, the 4x4 may only be a 4.3in travel bike, but it's built ALOT heavier adn burlier (exept the chain stays on older ones)than nearly anything else in that travel range… frankly it feels beefier than bikes that are "intended" for way bigger stunts… are the 05 C.Stay's retrofitable to the older frame…anyone know? that'd be a nice upgrade…
As for the Float durability, I'll say it's mixed, friends on Older floats had some problems…one in particular on a Jamis Dakar LT KILLED his older float and then got a newer model and it's holding up great… I'd say the newer FLoats have adressed the durability/seal issue for the most part, older floats were just never intended to be used that way and that's why people think they were weak… that and I think that smoothness might actually be cming back to mountain biking…watch out, no more dorps to flat

dude it depends on your riding, you dont need to a four by to do 5 foot drops. But if its ideal for your trail riding get it, just dont plan on street being easy, its heavy as hell but* its not that hard my friend rides an 02 and hes beastly so i think it would be ok for everything, but you could get a cheaper bike that could do the same stuff i think, just depends on your trail riding if thats what your doing the most of, it also leaves room for progression which is good, but if its just for drops/djs get a hardtail, way better for dj and ive done 7-9 foot drops on mine.
