I am building up a ClifCat Tankass that I just got bought and had powder coated and everything was going fine until I ran into an issue with the cranks/BB.
The chain stays are extremely wide where they meet the BB shell on the frame, therefore when I thread a 73mm BB in and install the cranks, the cranks are not allowed to spin freely because the spider is hitting the chain stay. I am also unable to fit any sort of chain ring, or chain guide because the chain stay is so wide.
The BB shell is about 73mm wide and I was wondering if I should try an 83 or a 100mm BB to thread in and see if that is wide enough to allow the cranks to be spaced out far enough from the chain stay and spin freely.
I tried my 113mm Race Face Signature FR Bottom Bracket, but the circumference of it was too wide to even thread it in, I did however thread a 73 Shimano Octalink in, but that obviously was not wide enough to space the cranks out away from the chain stay.
This is a 2003 Tankass with the rectangular chain stays and round tubing seat stays.
Thanks for any help you all can give me.
