I got a 2003 Shiver last winter. I was on a 2001 Monster, which I sold after a few rides on the Shiver.

The 2001 Monster is something like 10 lbs..Or 9 something anyway. When you have a Monster T, weight isn't much of a concern.

Weight for the Shiver is stated at 8.25 pounds. I did notice a slight difference.

Personally, I would not go back. I find the Shiver to be a far more responsive fork that the Monster T was, and it even has a tad more travel as an added bonus. It is solid, tracks well and low maintenance. Easy to tune via external adjustment (like the Monster) and internal oil heights and such.

thx… you or anyone else know what the axel to crown lenght is? I think that that the shiver is shorter, which I'm aiming for but I can't find the measurements anywhere.

I love mine. I ride a 2002 DC Shiver with a 170mm travel kit and I am continually impressed with it. It's a little over 8 lbs, but when tracking, (i.e. front wheel is on the ground), it feels lighter because of the inverted design. The weight is unsprung. Obviously, it does not feel lighter when jumping or lifting the bike up, duh. But I did notice that climbing is not bad and the steering radius is excellent for a DC fork.

I have my new Shiver on now for about a month ( its an04 but the same fork I believe)
It really is an amasing bit of gear.I find it difficult to put into words the sheer niceness:D of this fork .I dont see how you could not like this fork . (OK so i had a great days biking today and am still high on the buzz, first real spring day and skived off from work which made it all the sweeter)
