I recall NSR enforcing their patent on this site years ago.

IMHO if someone is going to build you a hanging rack outta aluminum don't go with the NSR hooks. Go wheel trays instead.

Ya just read that thread. I'm going to put some deep design thought into this one. The hook system kinda blows anyways wearing paint off the bike. Already have a oneup rack, thought DIY project will be fun to do.

You sure aluminum will handle the fatigue? It's a lot of money to hang on a rack and if your bike comes off and hits another car, a homemade rack is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

It's not homemade. Its going to be built by a specialty metal fabricator whole has the full set up for doing aluminum, CNC plasma cutter and all that jazz. When I went by to see him with my buddies truck to take some general measurements he was very concerned about the state of the rust around the welds on the NSR, if anything that will fail before what he builds me does.

I'm going to do a basket system instead of the hooks so I wont get sued.

1Up Rack is full aluminum w/SS hardware.  Don't see the issue. Or is this like carb0n bike parts of the early 20Teens?

If plan is for Jesus Christ Pose rack; I'd go full SS with wheel baskets IMO

There are expensive and heavy but made out of stainless steel.

Also looks like Thule is in the rip off game too. Nice one up copy...at least they are making a platter rack that doesn't suck.

Dang, if that Thule were priced lower it would be a decent “value” option relative to a 1Up. At that price might as well get the real deal and avoid all that plastic BS.

The 1up really does last forever. Mine stays on the truck/car year round and its pretty much brand new. Had it 5 years

Yeah I have two roof rack ones, anytime I see them come up used I snag em. Love em. They can bolt up to the hitch rack as well, great feature.

Wish shipping to Canada could come down in cost or have them get a Canadian distributior - they were crazy expensive to bring in last time I looked.

Now I do 1up traffic contortions to avoid being in front of police.
