There was some discussion regarding this some time ago. What're the benefits or any draw backs of above suspension design when used in a "trail bike" application?

No bacon this time. Sorry.

That's how my blur LTC was set up. Fantastic bike. Shit my hard tail has 120 and 0. Talk about imbalance.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Giant SX bike are unbalanced like such. Specialized was doing something like it in the EVO bikes. Santa Cruz is doing it with the 5010

My hardtail is 140/0. How do I live?

Why slag free swag?

I'm running a Kona Process w/ 134 rear and 150 front. Kills everything.

Why? C'mon people, quantify it for me.

In my layman's understanding, the more travel you add to a bike the less pedal friendly it becomes. Having a design with shorter amounts of travel would mean you can have a bike that responds better to pedalling inputs or retains a "poppy" or fun feel that might be lost on a bigger travel bike.

I'm sure there are design implications regarding axle paths, shock size/placement and how they might influence the overall design too but that'd be like a pig trying to describe a helicopter.

I came from a Range 160/160. Great bike.

The Process is obviously more a more efficient pedaler and has much more pop on the trail. It doesn't erase mistakes the way the Range did. I have to pick better lines, but it is much easier gap rough sections. Came spec'd with a 140 Rev. With the 150 Pike it is much more comfortable in the steep and chunky.

When I Strava secret trails and then post them on Facebook afterwards, I am noticeably faster on the new rig.

Focusing on the actual travel numbers doesn't mean everything. The process 111 and a xc bike with 111mm travel will ride vastly different. It's all about the geo.

quoted for truth. i have spent a good deal of time on the 111 and it is a supremely capable rig. the geo of the process line is just spot on i.m.o.

My wife likes it too, lots of backcountry miles on it this summer.
