Good input here which makes me think the 1 bike question was one worth exploring. Will I have just 1 bike next year? I don't know - I just see the current crop of 6"-7" do it all bikes as an option for those who predominantly ride all-mountain.

the question won't be if you'll have 1 bike next year. It's will you have just one bike all year.

I'm not quite as bad as the old man and the sea or his better half.

You can all go to hell. I'll be joining you shortly and I'm bringing beer and cheetos.

my 3 bike quiver

Road bike
Mountain Bike
Dirt Bike

I did the multiple mountain bike thing for years and found that I really only needed one AM bike and enough spare parts to keep it running so that I have no down time.

a plated dual sport moto would be a nice addition though

Reign sx is more on the dh side of the scale.

or he decides to go to whistler for the day and he has to hang off the back all day long….or….

This type of situation has arisen for me recently. I find if you are riding with a group on DH bikes on DH trails, the little bike very quickly becomes inadequate and not as fun.

One bike? Bah!

I sense weakness already. I see you getting rid of the Podium, getting a scratch. Then trying to get rid of the Remedy only to find out it's not worth it to just give it away. oh and you'll buy buy a HT frame over the winter that could possibly be a dirt jumper, which could still leave the door open for a x-c HT.

If you do go to one bike, I see it lasting 3 or 4 months tops…..but that ok Dave we will be here for you.

If you get married, then all of the above means nothing. You'll be reduced to one bike and will long for the days of a quiver of bikes……shit Dave your not thinking of getting married are you?

Also, does it irritate the crap out of anyone else when brakes have a banjo fitting to realign the hose, yet they still leave it with a big loop like on the rear?

THANK YOU. I put it right up there with routing the front brake hose on the outside of the fork leg. Both so easy to change, yet so many fail to do it right. :rocker:

I thought he was implying that getting married automatically purges the bike quiver.

i think that usually only happens when the other half doesn't ride

I have one light weight 6x6 bike, it matches my (lack of) skill set perfectly.

I don't do XC very well, nor DH, so a relatively light weight, AM/FR bike works for me. The lack of a bike during fork and shock service is a concern, but then I break out the 2003 Giant Boulder and go for a ride on Crinkum Krankum and giggle all the way down.

Please let me demonstrate the ride around; really it's no trouble.

Not as much as that section of cable going up to the head of the seatpost…
