I see. So what they've been cooking up over the years has substantial power density gains over what's being produced currently. I wonder how long it will be until those types of packs are included on the motor bikes of the Shore...

One thing we can be sure of: they won't make them backwards compatible and whatever is high end right now won't maintain much upgradability or resale value.

I'm no battery expert, but their new battery appears to be ever so slightly better performing than the one they came out with last year. So how is this ground breaking?

my range extender is the size of a bidon and has 252wh

those are different metrics though, aren't they? wh/l is a density measure (ie, 810wh produced by one liter of battery volume). i don't think wh/l data is typically specified with battery packs, just wh with no cell count info (given most packs use 18650's i guess you could calc the density if you knew home many were stuffed inside). time to break out the hacksaw.

if they keep using the 18650 cell form factor i could see people re-stuffing older packs with current tech batteries. though i'm sure they're not service friendly...

Wondering how these super high power, high density batteries do with wet, banging around, being heated in hot sun etc.?

Saw this one pop up the other day.

Earthed 3 (2005): "I'm Rob Warner, and this is blow-air mountain biking", queue the Tarantula D&B rap, and Rob ripping around the urban UK streets.

Out for a night ride last night on Fromme and saw 3 dudes on those Cake ebikes ripping around.....super fast, throttle only.

Are these things legal on the trails?

Someone passed me on an ebike on No Quarter yesterday, do I need to post in here even if it doesn't bother me? What are the current rules?

Was it a jabroni using the bikes battery to power their speaker too?

I see those Surons being sold by certain dirt bike/sled shops. I wonder if they provide after sales service to them as well? Also seeing more and more non-bike retailers in Canada getting into the oh so trendy mtn biking.

The independent bike shop is being assaulted from all angles!
