So, basically when you are in the bike lane everyone must get out of your way.
Now we know who is the smallest Dick.
Ya dude. You nailed it. Clever.
Here's the rational interaction that I have with cyclists as I drive along my street from the grocery store once or twice per week.
1) Follow behind cyclist at safe distance until gap in parked cars or stop sign.
2) Drive past cyclist…heck…share a wave.
3) Everybody gets on with their day.
or…
1) Follow behind cyclist at a safe distance until gap in parked cars or stop sign.
2) Hey…he's moving along okay…I can deal with this. I'll just follow along behind him.
3) Everybody gets on with their day.
This is how society functions. There's give and there's take. And it's because I'm a cyclist that somebody on a bike route deliberately getting in the way of traffic really pisses me off. I'm not talking about a beginner. I'm not talking about somebody that doesn't know what they're doing. I'm talking about somebody that is deliberately holding up traffic to make some kind of point.
And why this pisses me off is because all the drivers that this guy in turn pisses off, are not going to give me the benefit of the doubt when they come up behind me and I'm on my bike (or perhaps it's your girlfriend or kid or whatever?). They're not going to get behind calls for more bike lanes. They're not going to like cyclists and they're not going to be on our side. And because of people like this, we're going to end up with Rob Ford as our next mayor (he's moving to Vancouver) and we're all going to end up way, way worse off. But yah, I guess I'm selfish that it pisses me off when I see other cyclists doing stupid shit.
Anyhow. The point of my post was to see if a group of (theoretically) responsible cyclists had come across this behaviour and if there was a way that we could do something about it. But it sounds like some people here are happy about other cyclists acting like dicks and okay with the repercussions of that.
